All IGW products include technology for providing telephone service via the Internet connection (Voice over IP). There are two ports (RJ11) for normal fixed line telephone connections, allowing the subscriber to connect analog telephone handsets to the IGW.
The IGW 2000 series include the ability to connect computers, laptops, smart phones and other wireless enabled devices via normal WiFi (IEEE 802.11b/g/n) functionality. With the implementation of the latest protocol, users can connect with speeds of up to 300Mbit/s.
As an option, the IGW can be delivered with a cable television module. This allows the NGA service provider to offer regular Cable Television service to the subscriber. The cable television signals are delivered over a secondary dedicated fiber and when terminated in the IGW, the optical signal is converted into electrical and delivered to the user on the usual Coax connector.
As an additional option, Icotera can also offer a cable TV filter solution for the cable television module. The filter enables the service provider to differentiate television channel packages (ex: small, medium and large channel packages) and control the subscriber's access to packages by remotely managing the On/Off and channel package settings in the IGW.
The management capability of the IGW translates into significantly lower operational costs for the service provider due to much fewer "truck rolls", i.e. sending a technician out to the subscriber.
